Tip: Thermal Do’s & Hell NO’s!

I have natural hair and I love the versatility of it. Being able to rock all sorts of textures is fun, but one thing that seems to have become a problem recently is the thermal damage. The Blow dryer, flat and curling irons are huge contributors. Initially, I thought there was no way to avoid chopping off these unsightly straights ends that refuse to coils (when I sport a curly doo).

As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, Lynn (Jazma) gave me the break down of some helpful Thermal DO’s and HELL NO’s.

-Do not use flat/curling irons without temperature controls. While Ironing, do not use beyond a temperature of 180 degrees.

-Try not to use your iron every day. BUT if you do, use your iron on a very low temperature.

-Never iron dirty hair, your hair follicle is more prone to breaking in this state. If anything, opt to use curlers or finger twists for a curly look.

-Use lots of conditioner to nourish your hair. For those with very dry hair, rather than shampooing often - rinse your hair daily with a conditioner that works best with your hair and wash once to twice a week. If you are very active, this a good alternative.

Apply these simple rules to your daily regiment and you will avoid the stringy straw like effects of thermal damage.
